John Kasich received high approval ratings for the work he's doing in the swing state of Ohio
Republican Presidential Candidate Gov. John Kasich (OH) received high approval ratings for the work he’s doing in the swing state of Ohio.
Quinnipiac University released a poll showing that Kasich received a 61% approval rating and 28% disapproval rating.
The poll results also shows that Kasich has high approval ratings at 60% or above amongst Republicans, Independents, Men, and Women.
Amongst Democrats, Kasich’s poll numbers stand at 46% approval and 44% disapproval. The poll results are good news for Kasich who, after the first Republican Presidential debate, emerged as an option to Donald Trump and Jeb Bush.
Since the debates, Kasich has moved up from the bottom 17 to the top 5. Kasich’s appeal stems from the fact that he is a governor of the swing state of Ohio and he can appeal to all groups within the Republican Party.
During the 2008 and 2012 Presidential Elections, Republicans lost the key swing states of Florida and Ohio because they weren’t able to bring together the various groups within their party.
Although Donald Trump is leading in the polls and Jeb Bush is viewed as the eventual party nominee, neither have been able to bring together the different groups within their party like Kasich has done in Ohio.
Trump’s appeal is to the Tea Party, ultra Conservative wing of the Republican Party, while Bush’s appeal is to the moderate wing of the Republican Party.
Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley has endorsed Kasich. Bentley is quoted as saying about Kasich, “We have some good candidates. But the best one is John Kasich and the one who can win is John Kasich.”
